Welcome to the San Diego North Chamber of Commerce’s blog.  I’m Michael Robinson and serve as the president and CEO of the organization, the third largest chamber of commerce in San Diego County.

The San Diego North Chamber has initiated a number of new programs, services and events as of July 1, 2008 – and this blog is one of them. The new programs have been developed under the “go North” banner – a commitment this organization makes to its business investors to steer them north to profitability, growth and greater success.  Basically, the Chamber’s new line up of offerings is based in a simple, but often forgotten, purpose – to support businesses and serve their needs with innovative and invigorating programming.  This month, in addition to the start of our blog, the Chamber will debut a new quarterly workshop series, QTech.  These workshops will bring topics and leading experts to the business community and provide a line of sight as to how best technology can be leverage to the success of a business.  Not coincidently, the first workshop, to be held July 22nd, is titled “The Business of Blogging.”

Brent Altomare, the owner and executive producer of Kearny Mesa-based Groovy Like a Movie will be a featured speaker and will discuss the reasons behind considering a blog as part of a larger strategy.  J. Daniel Hull, author of a successful blog himself (What About Clients? ), will then speak to the best practices of actually maintaing a blog.  He will share his hits and misses, and then Kevin Gyberg of B2 Software, Inc. will cover the basics needed to create a blog.  The workshop will be held at the Country Inn & Suites – San Diego North in Mira Mesa.  Registration and a continental breakfast will open at 7:30 am, and the program will begin at 8:00 am, concluding at 9:30 am.  SDNCC members may register at $15 each, and non-member guests may register at $25 each.  Register here.
